A look at Vail’s new fire station

VAIL, Colorado –Vail’s new 15,000-square-foot, two-story fire station – designed by Belford Watkins – will cost $4 million and accommodate two fire fighting companies.
The building, to be built on the north frontage road just west of the roundabout in West Vail, also will include quarters for four firefighters, a dorm for 12 resident firefighters and a administration/training area. The builder, Fort Collins-based Drahota, will seek gold LEED certification for the building. Environmentally friendly features will include natural lighting, low-flow water fixtures, recycled and local building materials, increased outdoor air ventilation, and recycling of construction waste.
