A New Perspective: When spirit comes knocking
Vail CO, Colorado
When spirit comes knocking, are you listening? When spirit comes knocking, are you paying attention? When spirit comes knocking, are you conscious of it? The use of the word “spirit” here can be interpreted as God, creator, Buddha, etc. ” whatever works for you.
Spirit has a way of making sure we’re listening. It may appear as a song on the radio that has a message about something we need to hear or helps us with something we’re working on in our lives. It may appear as a friend showing up just when we need them. It may appear as someone we don’t know helping us in a moment of need. Or, it may be an e-mail that introduces us to someone or something we may need.
These are all indications that spirit is trying to helping us out. Spirit knocks and, if we’re paying attention, we will be given exactly what we need. We have to be open to the incredible possibilities of spirit and trust in it as well. Spirit will help us in ways our egos couldn’t possibly imagine. Once the ego gets involved, it decides how the help should look and then we miss the opportunity being given to us.
Learning to let go of your expectation of the form help will come in will allow you to be more open to the wonders of spirit. Trusting that we are being taken care of and that all is well is a more peaceful way to live. We can learn to get ourselves out of the way and allow spirit to work through us. This is not to indicate that we should just sit on our hands and do nothing. Spirit likes to know that we are participating in our lives. The more we participate, yet let go and trust, and the more we learn to pay attention when the guidance shows up, the more spirit will guide us.
You may feel that if you are participating in your life, it means that your ego is involved. This can be true and not true. It will be true if you believe that your ego is your guiding light. You may not even be aware that your ego has so much control but, as we say in metaphysics, “never underestimate the power of the ego.” Ego is described as the place where fear, anger, judgment, doubt, etc. resides. It can rule your world.
Participating in your life with less ego means that you put out to the world what it is you think you need or want. Then you have to trust that the only result will be something that benefits your soul. The ego will always be there, but when you let go of your expectations, the ego is tamed.
The perfect result in any situation will be that which benefits your soul. You can let go of the rest and trust that what you are given is the voice of spirit knowing what is best. Pushing to make things happen that are not of the highest purpose for our souls creates suffering. We push and push and suffer and suffer. Then we wonder why things just don’t work out for us.
Let go and trust that you are guided. Ask your spirit and then listen, pay attention and be in awe of the results. Move yourself out of the way and trust that you deserve the best for your life and for your soul. When spirit comes knocking, are you listening?
