A look at the numbers behind the 25th season of the Vail International Dance Festival just begins to tell the story:

Nine world premieres.

Nine performances at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater.

Three free performances in the streets of Vail.

One free Hot Summer Night event: 8150 Urban Dance Challenge.

One National Dance Day dance-a-thon event with YouTube sensation Matt Harding.

In all more than 100 dancers graced the Vail stage over the course of the last two weeks. On its silver anniversary, the beloved festival lived up to its burgeoning international reputation.

“Each year, we look to expand how dance and the arts help make Vail in the summer such a vibrant and exciting place to be,” said Festival Director Damian Woetzel. “We’ve had a wonderful 25 years and now look forward to another quarter century of performances, education and community programming.”

The number we can’t peg down is how many new festival fans were made this year. Many, to be sure.
