A stroll among Vail art and food
VAIL, Colorado – The Connoisseur’s Trail, a fundraiser for local charities in its third year, returns to Vail Friday night. The Connoisseur’s Trail is being held in conjunction with Gourmet on Gore.The event is an art walk through Vail Village galleries that includes wine and food pairings from local restaurants.The Connoisseur’s Trail, which kicks off the weekend of Gourmet on Gore, provides an exciting art component to the holiday weekend. Participating galleries include Claggett/Rey Gallery, Masters Gallery, Pismo, Vail Village Arts and Worth Home.Participating restaurants include Lord Gore, La Tour, Larkspur, Sapphire Restaurant & Oyster Bar and Vail Catering Concepts.An art auction will benefit Small Champions, a grass-roots charitable foundation providing a variety of athletic and recreational opportunities programs for young children with such diverse disabilities as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, blindness and autism.Colorado artist Carrie Fell, noted worldwide for her dynamically innovative depictions of the American West, has donated an original painting for The Connoisseur’s Trail auction. The painting, entitled “Gentle Leaders,” is a 50-inch by 40-inch, original acrylic/oil on canvas. The artist will be on hand to autograph posters of the original painting, which currently is on display at Masters Gallery at 100 East Meadow Drive in Vail Village (970-477-0600).Tickets are $30 (which includes the wine and food tastings at each participating gallery), and all proceeds benefit Small Champions. This summer’s walk will be held Sept. 4 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. For more information and reservations, call 970-476-6600.Gourmet on Gore continues Saturday and Sunday and winemakers, sommeliers and spirit representatives will be on hand to discuss the wine, beers and spirits, which may be paired with taste-size portions of specialty dishes from a variety of restaurants. “Gourmet dollars ” will be available the day of the event for purchase. These “dollars” will allow attendees to taste a medley of wines, beers, spirits and food items in sample sizes. All items will be affordably priced. The festival also features live jazz.
