A work of art by God

Gary Wingo

It was nothing you could achieve it is Gods gift of grace which saves you. No one can pride themselves upon earning Gods love. The fact is that what we are we owe to the hand of God on us. We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good deeds which God planned for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10. Isnt it wonderful to know you are Gods personal creation? The phrase, His workmanship literally means you are Gods masterpiece, designed specifically by the Lord. When we choose to accept the reality of Christ and invite Him to take control, the first revelation should be: I am Gods work of art! Just as sure as the Lord allows nature to paint a gorgeous sunrise each morning, His brushstrokes created you and me. The truth about your creation has astounding impact on your existence.Psalm 139: 13-14 exclaims, You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mothers womb. I praise You because I am fearfully & wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful I know that full well. When you were conceived, Gods hand was upon you. He used your folks genetics and created a whole new being. The Lord even knew your name before your parents spoke it. He made you with abilities and purpose; you are unique and special to Him. As The Purpose Driven Life states, God prescribed every single detail of your body. He chose your race, the color of your skin, your hair, and every other feature. He custom-made your body just the way He wanted it. Your attributes and soul make you one-of-a-kind. God used His own paintbrush to lovingly stroke the lines and shape of your life! To put such intricate effort into making YOU, its obvious how splendid He believes you to be!So, if indeed we are Gods masterpiece, a work of art, then in Christ, your life has a definite purpose. God said, in Jeremiah 29:11, I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you & not harm you, plans to give you hope & a future. When He knit you together in your moms womb, the Lord decided the plan of your days in advance, and God doesnt make mistakes. There is purpose in how and why you exist. Do you know what that purpose is? Gods design gave us a spirit that yearns for something beyond ourselves. That something is His Son, Jesus Christ. With Christ in us, our purpose and reason for living becomes clear. If we find our lifes mission in Christ, then it stands to reason that God has a personal hand in every experience of our lives. The Bible says, All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28. Every event, every choice we make, every success and failure, good or bad, right or wrongeverything, God uses it as a sculpting move that shapes who we are. Gods purpose for us then takes into account any errors, any sin, and every choice. He knows them in advance and uses all circumstances to lead us down the absolute best path for our lives, every day, in every way. Truth is, the Lord is our greatest cheerleader! Why in the world does God do this? Why is the Father so interested in even the details of my life? Why did He go to all the time and trouble of making us into His masterpiece? Because He loves us, because the only real way to understand who we are is by who God is and what He does for us. As Rick Warren states, You were created as a special object of Gods love. God made you so He could love you. This is a truth to build your life on. When we understand that we are really a work of art, painted by God Himself, our lives have fresh motivation. God would not create something for which there was no purpose. If we can grasp the fact that living Gods design for us prepares us for an eternity of Joy and renewal, our lives become more focused and meaningful. We ARE Gods workmanship. We are painted by the personal hand of God. We are His masterpiece. And we are created to live in Fellowship with Him forever! I leave you with this Biblical truth: If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God who reconciled us to Himself through Christ. II Corinthians 5:17. With Jesus and claiming Gods design for us, our today is made new and our future is certain. Honestly, does it get any better than that?
