AAA: July 4th travel to go up
SALT LAKE CITY – AAA says more residents in mountain states will hit the road this Independence Day weekend over last year.
The travel group released a forecast Monday that estimates more than 2.75 million residents will drive 50 or more miles, up nearly 20 percent.
AAA Utah spokeswoman Rolayne Fairclough says people are more upbeat since the recession hit bottom last year.
Air travel is expected to increase by 10 percent for more than 140,000 Mountain West residents flying.
The Triple-A relies on Boston-based research firm IHS Global Insight for the numbers.
