ABC News staffer jailed in Denver amid convention

DENVER, Colorado ” An ABC News staffer has been arrested on trespass and interference charges outside Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel.

ABC says producer Asa Eslocker was arrested Wednesday while a crew was trying to photograph Democratic senators and donors. The network says a sheriff’s deputy told Eslocker the sidewalk is owned by the hotel and pushed him into traffic.

The Joint Information Center, which handles media inquiries during the Democratic convention, says officers had repeatedly told Eslocker not to block the sidewalk and a hotel entrance.

ABC says Eslocker was reporting on the role of corporate lobbyists and wealthy donors at the convention.

Network spokesman Jeffrey Schneider released a statement saying, “We expect to see that kind of thing in Myanmar, not on the streets of Denver.”
