BEAVER CREEK ” Absinthe Films will continue its 2008 film tour with a premiere of “Ready” in Beaver Creek on Saturday. “Ready” will be shown in the The Vilar Performing Arts Center. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and show will start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7 and are available for pre-sale through One Track Mind and Billabong. Tickets will also be available at the door.

One dollar from each ticket will be donated to SOS Outreach and $1 will also go to the Protect Our Winters Foundation. Also, an afterparty for 21 and over attendees will be held at a yet unnamed Beaver Creek nightspot in celebration of the release of Absinthe’s ninth film. The after-party location will be announced at the film screening.

Now in its third year, the 2008 Sphere of Influence Tour will visit 21 cities across North America premiering the new film. Legendary slam poet Kesed Ragin will preside as master of ceremonies again and athletes like Matt Beardmore, Romain DeMarchi, Marc Frank Montoya and others will be in the house to sign autographs, answer questions and mingle with the crowd. Tour sponsors Monster Energy Drink, DaKine, Snowboard Magazine, Clif Bar, Billabong and others will be on hand to kick out product and schwag to attendees and each premiere will be followed by an afterparty where guests can get down with some of their favorite snowboard brethren.

“Ready” features snowboarding’s heaviest hitters including Nicolas Müller, Gigi Rüf, Kevin Pearce, MFM, JP Solberg, Romain DeMarchi, Scotty Lago, Mikey Leblanc, Jeremy Jones, Annie Boulanger, Keegan Valaika, Matt Beardmore, Matty Ryan, Wolfgang Nyvelt and more doing what they do best. From Alaska to Europe, they traveled the globe with photographers, filmers and riders in search of snow and insanity for the 2008 film.

In 2007, Absinthe received the coveted Film of the Year award by Snowboarder Magazine for the critically acclaimed film “Optimistic?”.

Their commitment to keeping it green is also evident again this year. For every Sphere of Influence ticket sold Absinthe will donate $1 to the Protect Our Winters organization, started by big mountain snowboarding legend Jeremy Jones and $1 per ticket to a local non-profit in each tour stop city. Absinthe has also partnered with the Energy Action Coalition to feature educational materials and alternative energy information at every stop on the tour.

“We are constantly bombarded by conflicting messages about what is happening to our planet. For those of us who feel that our environment is undergoing profound changes as a result of human carelessness and want to become part of the solution, we have partnered up with these organizations who lead the way in defining how to step it up or take the first step,” said Justin Hostynek, one of Absinthe’s founders.
