Agency: No swine flu cases reported in Colorado
DENVER, Colorado ” State health officials say Colorado is so far free of swine flu cases connected to an outbreak in Mexico.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported eight cases of type A swine flu in California and Texas. All eight patients have recovered.
The unique swine flu strain is suspected of killing of dozens of people in Mexico, where authorities closed schools, museums, libraries and theaters in the capital Friday to try to contain the outbreak.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said Friday no cases have been reported in Colorado, but state officials are monitoring the situation closely.
Ned Calonge, Colorado’s chief medical officer, says people who have recently traveled to the affected areas in Mexico, Texas and California and developed flu-like symptoms should call their health care provider.
