‘Aggressive’ coyote killed at Copper Mountain

Associated Press
Vail, CO Colorado

COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colorado ” Wildlife officials killed an aggressive coyote that was roaming a ski resort.

Officials killed the coyote after a man reported the animal charged toward his 3-year-old son during a ski trip Saturday. The man says they scared the animal away and nothing happened.

“One person told us it got a hold of a ski jacket,” said Randy Hampton, a spokesman for the Colorado Division of Wildlife, which killed the animal.

The ski lift and run on Copper Mountain was closed after Saturday’s scare while Division of Wildlife officials hunted for the animal and killed it.

“At ski areas, this is fairly uncommon,” Hampton said. “Coyotes are one of the most adaptive species out there. They’re in the deserts, in downtown Chicago, downtown L.A., and in the mountains of Colorado.”
