Airport terminal revenue will decrease in Eagle County
Eagle County, CO Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” Money made at the Eagle County airport terminal will be down about 20 percent in 2009, officials said.
The county commissioners approved a 2009 budget for the airport terminal that projects revenue down about $200,000 from 2008.
“We expected to have less revenue,” said Chris Anderson, manager of the terminal.
While some of the revenue drop was projected because of the poor economy, said Anderson, the terminal will also lose money while it closes for four months this summer for maintenance.
The airport will be closed from April 15 to Aug. 31 for runway maintenance. The terminal generates money from things like advertising, airline rents and rental cars.
Despite the projected drop in revenue, the airport should be up about $350,000 for the year, Anderson said.
Some additional improvements are scheduled to be made at the airport this year. There are plans to install passenger walkways and lighting to the 30- and 15-day parking lots, upgrades to the flight information display and improvements to the public bathrooms.
