Al Jarreau visits Beaver Creek

VAIL, Colorado – A master of both studio and stage, Al Jarreau has received Grammy Awards in pop, jazz and R&B, with wins in four consecutive decades. The critically-acclaimed performer makes his only Colorado stop at the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) in Beaver Creek Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.With a career spanning more than 40 years, Jarreau has earned scores of awards and accolades from around the world, including seven Grammy Awards, a platinum album for “Breakin’ Away” (1981) and four gold albums – “This Time” (1980), “Jarreau” (1983), “High Crime” (1984) and “L Is For Lover” (1986). Jarreau is as stylistically diverse as he is distinguished, as evidenced in his most recent album “The Very Best of Al Jarreau: An Excellent Adventure,” released in September 2009. The collection surveys Jarreau’s life in music, spotlighting such notable songs as “We Got By,” the title track from his 1975 major-label debut; “Take Five” from “Look To The Rainbow,” the breakout album that earned him the 1977 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal; “(“Round, Round, Round”) “Blues Rondo A La Turk,” the 1981 Grammy winner for Jazz Vocal Performance Male; “We’re in this Love Together,” and the title track from “Breakin’ Away,” the 1981 Grammy winner for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Jarreau’s music has withstood the test of time.
