Alitalia’s net debt increases by $54.4 million in November

ROME – Italian national airline Alitalia SpA said Thursday its net debt increased by 46 million euros ($54.4 million), or 2.7 percent, in November.Alitalia’s debt was 1.72 billion euros ($2.03 billion) at the end of October and reached 1.77 billion euros ($2.09 billion) at the end of November, Alitalia said.The Italian airline said its short-term financial credits rose to 302 million euros ($357.12 million) at the end November from 291 million euros ($344.11 million) at the end of October.Italy’s market watchdog Consob required Alitalia to provide monthly net debt data because of its poor finances. State-owned Alitalia has been struggling amid fierce competition from European budget carriers as well as soaring fuel and labor costs.Vail, Colorado
