Daily Staff Report

GLENWOOD CANYON – All four lanes of traffic through Glenwood Canyon opened this week, more than a week ahead of schedule.Crews have been repairing damage caused by a rockslide on Thanksgiving Day that forced travelers to make a three-hour detour for several days. Since then, there have lane closures and vehicle size restrictions. The total cost of the repair project was approximately $1.2 million, according to state transportation officials. The project included repairing eight damaged sections of the bridge deck on the eastbound lanes and roadway damage on the westbound lanes. Crews also had to repair several hundred feet of concrete barrier and guardrails. A 50-foot retaining wall was built along the westbound lanes to replace damaged section. The wall panels are approximately 23 feet in height.Vail, Colorado
