With all the trappings a resort town can offer first-class dining, golf, fifteen types of yoga its sometimes easy to forget one thing: This is the West, dagnabbit. Im talking about the land of cowboys and Indians, ranches and endless pastures of grazing livestock. Luckily, the Eagle County Fair and Rodeo comes around once a year to remind us to switch out our hiking boots (or Manolos, as the case may be) for cowboy boots and get down to the fairgrounds to see all manner of ranch-born sports and livestock. But thats not all: Theres food galore, including funnel cakes, barbecue, kettle corn and everything you could want on a stick. Bootkickin bands like All Strung Out, Walker Williams, The Railbenders and Cowboy Hersh will be on hand, providing the appropriate aural ambience. The centerpiece, of course, is all the 4-H youth with their prize livestock, but in between, therell be plenty of carnival madness to keep you busy. Admission to the fair is free, and rodeo ticket prices are indicated below. Forthwith, your handy-dandy cheat sheet to make sure you dont miss any of the rootin-tootin action. Yee-haw!
