Almost 90 multi-sport athletes participate in 16th-annual LG TRI

The 16th-annual LG TRI was held on July 13 in Gypsum. The three-sport event included a 500-yard open water swim, a 12-mile bike loop up Valley Road and a 5-kilometer run through the Siena Valley Club development.

Jade Allen and Davis Krueger took the overall female and male titles. Allen posted the fastest times in all three disciplines to finish the course in 1 hour, 11 minutes, 13.21 seconds. Krueger built his lead on the bike and run, finishing in 59:04.97 as T.J. (1:06:08.74) and Tristan Thrasher (1:06:13.41) rounded out the podium just five seconds apart.

For the 12th time, the event also included a kids triathlon. There were 40 female finishers and 34 male finishers in the adult event and another 12 who contested the kids races.

The event is held in memory of Laura Genelin, who passed away in July of 2008 from colon cancer. Up until 2023, the event was held annually in her hometown of Eagle.
