Alpine Banks host Shred-A-Thon in Val Valley

AVON – Alpine Bank will hold a free community “Shred-a-thon” at Vail Valley branches in Avon on Sept. 23 and its branch in Eagle on Sept. 24.

The events, which take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.., will allow residents to shred documents free of charge. No reservation is required.

The evens allow residents to safely discard of unwanted documents containing sensitive personal information, such as old medical records, tax documents that are more than seven years old, old bank statements, personal bills, credit card statements and other documents. The shredded documents will be recycled.

“It’s an important step in preventing identity theft,” Alpine Bank Regional President Glenn Davis says.

Staples or do not need to be removed prior to shredding. Each person is limited to no more than five boxes of paper to be shredded.
