Altered Books Workshop at Avon Public Library
Vail, CO Colorado
AVON, Colorado – Often considered a form of journaling, altering books can be a creative way to recycle books, a unique way to preserve memories, or an outlet for self-expression. An “altered” book is basically a book that has changed in appearance and/or meaning. The altered book process can be simple: adding a drawing or text to a page, covering the pages, or adding photographs. It can also be as complex as creating an intricate book sculpture.
“An altered book is a book that has been recycled through creative means,” says Sheryl Odza, artist and staff member at the Avon Public Library. “The result of the altered book process is the creation of new art out of a love for books.”
Join us as we share different ideas and start transforming old books into art. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own items that will personalize your altered book.
This event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required. For more information, call the Avon Public Library at 970-949-6797.
