Alzheimer’s Association offers Eagle workshop for caregivers

EAGLE, Colorado ” The Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado presents its Savvy Caregiver Program workshop on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Eagle Health Care Center in Eagle.

Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease requires specific skills and an attitude that contributes to the well-being of both the caregiver and the person with the disease. The Savvy Caregiver Program enables caregivers to develop a sense of control and mastery within the caregiving role. Most people involved in care do it out of family love and obligation but have no training in how to effectively handle the challenges of this often overwhelming job. Attendees can expect to gain confidence in the role of caregiver during this workshop. The Savvy Caregiver Program includes a caregiver manual and CD-ROM to help participants learn the critical tasks of caregiving. A donation of $25 per family, which includes lunch, is suggested.

Savvy Caregiver Program objectives:

– Help caregivers appreciate the scope and impact of their work.

– Reduce the potential adverse impacts of caregiving.

– Increase caregivers’ skills and knowledge for caregiving.

– Help caregivers adopt a more strategic outlook on their work.

– Improve caregivers’ self-care skills.

– Improve the quality of life for care recipients.

– Increase involvement of families and other resources.

Registration is required. To register visit or call 303-813-1669. If you have questions or need more information email
