Missing Aurora girl found in Utah after Amber Alert issued in Vail

VAIL — A 13-year-old girl who was in the Vail area Wednesday after she was believed to have been abducted or enticed from her home was found in Utah hours later.

The girl disappeared from the Aurora area, an Amber Alert was issued later for the Vail area as the girl was believed to be traveling with a 41-year-old male suspect in a Ford Crown Victoria.

The Utah Department of Public Safety reported that the suspect was apprehended just outside of Green River at 3:34 p.m.

Troopers set spikes in case the subject fled; a Utah Highway Patrol sergeant located the vehicle traveling westbound on I-70 near mile point 63, “and when he got behind the vehicle, it initially sped up to near 100 mph,” the Utah Department of Public Safety reported.

“As they got near the other officers and initiated a traffic stop, the subject pulled right over and he was taken into custody without incident,” the Utah Department of Public Safety reported. “The female juvenile was also found in the vehicle. UHP is coordinating with Aurora Colorado Police in this case.”
