VAIL, Colorado –DJ Alvredo – who performs in Vail Friday night –has been spinning for nearly three decades, so it’s not surprising his collection comes in at more than 20,000 records. He’s one of the most well-known DJ’s in Europe and he is performing at Samana Lounge in Vail Friday night. DJ Alvredo, real name Alfred Ommen, hails from Amsterdam where he started spinning at age 15. His first gig was at a local youth center and he’s been hooked since. DJ Alvredo took the time to answer a few questions for the Vail Daily.

Vail Daily: You’ve been spinning since the ’80s. Tell me about some of the changes – both good and bad – you’ve seen in the industry.

DJ Alvredo: The bad changes are that you don’t have to be à real DJ now because software is doing It for you. Also because there is so much competition, DJ’s are not used to playing all night long so the DJ’s set misses some originality. Everybody is plating the same hit tunes to please the crowd. The good thing is that house music is widely available for everybody and available anywhere there is an internet connection.

VD: How do you differ from the other DJ’s out there?

DJA: I try to play the music I love from the soul. Also, I always try to get some nice grooves throughout my sets.

VD: Why do you do what you do – spend your nights Djing?

DJA: For the love of music, otherwise I couldn’t last this long.

VD: What kind of music do you play? What can people expect from your show?

DJA: I play a mix between house, deep house and tech house. Expect some nice deep grooves with some Amsterdam flavor.
