An egging epidemic hits Gypsum

GYPSUM, Colorado ” Gypsum, Colorado residents have been waking up to eggs and not on the breakfast table.
Vandalism, using mainly eggs, have been reported throughout Gypsum during the last month.
On Nov. 3 a Chatfield Lane resident called deputies after discovering eggs on her home, vehicle and driveway.
That was the first of many incidents.
A man called deputies, Nov. 8, after waking up to a half dozen eggs smashed on his front door and on the side of his residence in the River View Estates Mobile Home Park on Trail Gulch Road. Eggs were found on five other residences in the same mobile home park that morning.
A week later, deputies got a report that eggs had been smothered on a Jeep at the same location and that a nearby Cadillac had been tampered with.
The owner of the Cadillac told deputies his car had been stored under a tarp. However, the tarp had been removed, eggs had been smashed on the hood and chocolate cake smeared on the windshield. The suspect had recovered the car with the tarp. A black tray was found near this scene. Deputies tried, unsuccessfully, to lift fingerprints from the tray.
The Sheriff’s Office says it is trying to increase the patrol in the Gypsum area, however, this is dependent on daily staffing and other calls coming in. The Sheriff’s Office also says it getting the word out looking for leads in this case and to encourage people to not hesitate if they see suspicious activity.
