An introduction to Vinyasa yoga
VAIL Mountain Lotus at the Vail Athletic Club, the yoga studio located within the Vail Mountain Lodge & Spa, will offer a beginner yoga series. We continue to hear the community request a beginner series as a place people can begin their Vinyasa yoga journey, studio director Kelly Heath said. The series, which starts Sunday, will consist of eight, one-hour classes and is geared toward beginners and those who feel like they never got the basics down. We will cover everything you need to know in order to soar right into a strong power Vinyasa yoga practice, Heath said.During the series, topics addressed will include:n Intro to yoga and why we are here n Breathing through Vinyasa (what is Vinyasa?) n Core elements of the practice: ujayii (breath), drishti and uddiyana banda.n Break down and detail alignment of each pose within the Baptiste flow sequence how to modify, how to intensify.n How to put it all together in a seamless flow. The series is free for Vail Athletic Club members and $99 for nonmembers if you purchase on or before Wednesday and are $115 any other time. The series includes the Baron Baptistes Journey into Power book and an opportunity to join the studio with the initiation fee waived. To preregister for the workshop, call the Vail Athletic Club front desk at 476-7960.
