Andrew will be a senior at Manlius Pebble Hill School in DeWitt, NY, and participates in all aspects of his school’s music program. A multi-instrumentalist, he plays piano, flute, bagpipes, guitar and acoustic bass, but his first love is jazz piano.

Andrew began playing classically when he was four and started jazz lessons in fourth grade. He has been a member of the 315 All-Stars that won the Essentially Ellington Competition in 2001 and was a finalist in 2002 and 2003 and won an Outstanding Piano Soloist Award. Since seventh grade he has been selected to play with the New York State All-State Jazz Ensemble and every All-County Jazz Ensemble Program.

Besides playing in the orchestra and singing at school, where he has mentored students in the middle school jazz ensemble, he has a duo with a guitarist that won the Syracuse Cultural Resource Center Youth Jazz Festival Combo Competition.

During the past year Andrew has performed weekly with his trio at the Coffee Pavilion in Syracuse, where they are the house rhythm section for students and adults participating in a jam session, and freelances as a piano soloist at parties and local restaurants. Andrew was named best high school jazz pianist by the New York State School Music Association.
