Avon receives financial reporting award
AVON — The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded to the town of Avon by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report for fiscal year 2013.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. This is the 23rd consecutive year the town has earned the award.
The town is among only 48 of 271 Colorado municipalities that received this award for 2013.
An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement was awarded to the Finance Department which was primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning comprehensive annual financial report.
The comprehensive report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the report.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 18,210 government finance professionals.
