Avon speaker ‘has last laugh’
AVON — On Wednesday, ski instructor, author and motivational speaker Bernard “Chalky” White will be giving a presentation at the Avon Public Library titled “How to Say Nay to Your Naysayers … and Have the Last Laugh.” The presentation is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event begins at 6:30 p.m.
White, who is the author of “The 7 Secrets of Skiing,” has overcome a number of obstacles in his life, from an emotionally and physically abusive upbringing to instructor examiners who told him he had the “wrong body shape” to becoming a fully certified ski instructor. White will share with Avon audiences his attitude and philosophy to overcome those obstacles, as well as colorful stories of success and failure — some hilarious and some painful. White says that a wide range of people can benefit from his talk, from people who are looking to improve professional performance to those simply looking to get out of a personal rut.
The talk is not recommended for children, although teens are welcome. For more information on White’s programs, see http://www.the7secretsofskiing.com.
While it will be postmaster Elizabeth Turner’s first busy season in Avon, it’s far from her first holiday-shipping crunch.
