B’nai Vail to hold Days of Remembrance service

VAIL — The B’nai Vail Congregation Sabbath service and ceremony Remembering Victims of the Holocaust and Nazi Persecution on Friday will feature a large display of European remnants of the Holocaust and concentration camps, including ancient scrolls and a Torah.

Peter Vavra will play Yiddish music on the accordion from 5 to 6 p.m. during the display viewing time in the lower level of the Vail Interfaith Chapel. The service commemorating The Days of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust will begin at 6 p.m. with the lighting of six memorial candles in recognition of the 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis and will also include Yiddish songs performed by Maxine Graboyes and Peter Vavra.

Through the Days of Remembrance service, B’nai Vail Congregation seeks both to remember this tragic time in history and to reflect on the lessons it holds for our lives today. The service also pays tribute to the rescuers who risked their lives to save others during the Holocaust and to the American soldiers who liberated the concentration camps.
