Brush Creek plant sale planned for Friday
EAGLE — Originally, the Brush Creek Elementary School YouthPower365’s Sowing Seeds annual garden plant sale promised such overwhelming bounty that it was advertised as a four-day event.
That was before some enterprising ground squirrels and some late season cool temperatures messed with the plan.
The sales is still on, but it’s now planned for Friday only.
“The sun has been good to us this week and the greenhouse looks amazing,” said Kristina Turner of Brush Creek Elementary. She said there will be lots of great variety to choose from at the school plant sale, planned from 2 to 5 p.m. as part of the Bobcat Fair.
“Please also plan to pick up your hanging baskets from the pre-order,” said Turner. “We should have about 10 extra if you didn’t get a chance to pre-order. “
While critters and weather took their toll, the sale will still offer strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, herb gardens, asparagus, cabbage, artichokes, beans, peas, peppers, pumpkins, lettuce, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, eggplant ,yellow squash, delicate squash, zucchini, onions, gourds, and succulents.
“We also have smaller starts at the back of the greenhouse that need a few more weeks of TLC and will be good to go including alyssum, corn, cucumbers, viola, calendula, zinnia, pansy, eggplant, watermelon, spinach, ganzania and convolvulus,” said Turner.
