Business women’s group hosts open house in Vail
VAIL — Vail Valley Business Women’s Board of Directors will host a membership open house Wednesday at The Remedy Bar at the Four Seasons Resort Vail from 5 to 8 p.m. This year’s theme is 2016 influential women. The event is free.
The annual event gives local business-minded women the chance to learn about the benefits group members receive. With a theme of 2016 influential women, stations will cover topics including membership benefits, programming and scholarships, development and membership enrollment, featuring women who have left a legacy in own community as well as internationally. The Wednesday event also marks the start of a new membership year. To encourage attendance, Vail Valley Business Women will hold three raffle drawings and offer complimentary professional head shots by Ron Hiner Photography.
Since 1977, Vail Valley Business Women has taken on annual strategic initiatives and evolved to serve the community need of the more than 34 industries represented in the group.
‘Depth of Knowledge’
The 2015-2016 fiscal year brought significant changes to the organization. Based on member input, two facilitated networking events were added and quickly sold out. A new web site — vvbw.org — will debut Wednesday.
“I have always admired the depth of knowledge of Vail Valley retirees and second homeowners hold,” Vail Valley Business Women President Clare Hefferren said. “Seeking to tap into this goldmine, (Vail Valley Business Women) reached out and welcomed these ladies into our sphere with great success. Professionally employed currently or in the past, we are grateful for a desire to pass on a Vail Valley legacy.”
Vail Valley Business Women was started in 1977 to give professional women in the Vail Valley an outlet to network with each other, exchange ideas and gain further business knowledge through educational programming and speakers.
As one of the monthly group events, The Open House is designed to garner interest from local business minded women. Guests are able to sample the benefits of membership before they choose whether to commit to an annual membership. With a database exceeding 700, Vail Valley Business Women provides a broad base of women to both share their knowledge with and learn from others.
To give back to the community and future female generations, Vail Valley Business Women hosts our signature annual event, the December Holiday Soiree. The Soiree features a silent auction to raise money for the group’s scholarship program and a toy drive benefiting the Bright Future Foundation. In 2015-2016, funds were raised for five $1,000 scholarships.
