Club at Cordillera adds clubhouse manager Robert Podley to staff

EDWARDS — Robert Podley has joined the team at the Club at Cordillera as clubhouse manager. Podley moved from Florida at the beginning of December and is managing food and beverage at all of the clubhouses at Cordillera, including TimberHearth and the mountain course, The Valley and The Summit.

“I’m very excited,” Podley said. “As a Florida native, if you had asked me in September if I would be living somewhere where it snows, I would have laughed. But, Troon provided me with this opportunity and when I visited in mid-October, I fell in love with the area and the club itself.”

About Podley

Previously serving as clubhouse manager and regional Troon food and beverage representative for the Southeast United States at Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida, Podley has more than 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to working at Colonial Country Club, Podley was food and beverage director for Holiday Inn Resorts in Fort Myers Beach after serving as the assistant food and beverage director at The Colony Golf and Bay Club in Bonita Springs, Florida.

In his position at Cordillera, Podley is primarily in charge of the food and beverage operations, working in conjunction with the chefs to develop menus, creating wine lists and managing events, both private and member-oriented.

Although Podley has enjoyed the busy holiday weeks, he’s most excited about the upcoming summer season.

“First and foremost, we’re a golfing destination so our busy time is summertime,” Podley said. “Most of our members aren’t here now — they’ll be here in June. I’m excited to meet everyone and begin creating relationships with the membership.”

Podley has a certification in club management from The Club Managers Association of America, which is the hallmark of professionalism and education in the club industry.
