Dogma Athletica adds new personal trainers

EDWARDS — Dogma Athletica, a training facility in Edwards, is expanding with the addition of two personal trainers, Nick Franco and Missy McDonald. Franco and McDonald are accepting new clients.

Franco is a Vail Valley native who specializes in total body transformation. He does this by creating customized training programs for clients.

“I am a kid at heart with an upbeat personality, so I strive to make every session a lot of fun,” Franco said.

His programs incorporate a variety of exercise platforms such as gymnastics, strength training and metabolic circuits. Gymnastics might sound a little ambitious for those over the age of 15, but Franco stresses that this dynamic way of training can benefit people of all ages.

McDonald also has a background working with all types of athletes. In fact, she was on the University of Texas athletic staff as a massage therapist for two years. She believes that combining her knowledge of massage therapy and personal training makes for a more effective training partnership.

“Living in Vail, you see many clients with acute and chronic injuries,” McDonald said. “During my athletic career I sustained multiple injuries, and those experiences help me relate to clients who are going through both the physical and mental challenges associated with rehab.”

McDonald’s training sessions focus on strengthening movement patterns to help her clients achieve greater proficiency at a certain activity or sport. She combines core strengthening, balance training, plyometrics and flexibility to keep clients living injury free.
