Doug Landin announced as group’s Realtor of the Year

Daily staff report

EAGLE COUNTY — For the past 36 years, the Vail Board of Realtors has honored real estate leaders in the Vail Valley who exhibit humility, professionalism and dedication to the industry on a local and state level. This year, Julie Retzlaff, the board’s past Realtor of the Year, announced that Doug Landin is the 2015 Realtor of the Year.

“Having been in Doug’s position last year, I know what it feels like to receive such an honor from my peers,” Retzlaff said. “As part of the selection committee, you gain an understanding of how meaningful this award is.”

Landin’s arrived here in 1975 as a ski instructor for Vail Resorts, then known as Vail Associates. He was a board member from 2002 through 2010. In 2011, he was elected board chairman at a trying time. Deep in recession, when distressed homes and job loss blanketed the news, Landin kept the organization moving forward.

Landin also served on the Colorado Board of Realtors from 2010 through 2012, representing the valley’s real estate community at the state and national levels.

‘Grateful for the opportunity’

Landin said being honored as Realtor of the Year came as a surprise.

“I had no idea this was coming to me,” he said. “I’m very appreciative to be recognized by the board and grateful for the opportunity to serve over the years.”

In addition to naming its Realtor of the Year, the Vail Board of Realtors also recently announced its leadership team for the next year, including new Chairman Terry Nolan.
