UPCOMING EVENTS

• Wednesday: Poker game at the Golden Eagle Senior Center, 1 p.m. No sign up needed.

• Friday: Ball class with Janet Hill from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center.



This class utilizes the prop of a small ball for each participant. Using the ball, challenges muscles and improves hand/eye coordination while also working on balance.

• Friday: Zumba Gold class at the Golden Eagle Senior Center, 10:30 a.m. Come try this fun new class! Zumba Gold is a Latin dance-inspired exercise class with great movement and good times. You barely even know you’re exercising!

• Friday: “Lunch and Learn” with Helen Beckwith RN. She will present the second of her 2-part education opportunity and discussion on Type 2 Diabetes. 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Maloit Park Senior Wellness Center.



• March 21: Betty Ford Alpine Garden “Spring Senior Program” at the Vail Public Library from 1 to 3 p.m. Create a project with fresh flowers or plants to take home. Music and snacks/refreshments will be provided. Call 328-8896 by March 17 to register.

• Restorative body movement class, Avon Recreation Center, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. $10.

• Parkinson Power Moves class at Trinity Church, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This is a dynamic and fun exercise program based on 30 years of research showing that certain types of exercise can slow and possibly stop the progression of PD. Taught by certified instructors, we practice large amplitude movements which improve posture, balance, slowness, agility and coordination. Not just for those with PD.

• Tai chi for beginners, Avon Recreation Center, 5 to 6 p.m. $10.

• Intermediate tai chi, Avon Recreation Center, 6:30 to 8 p.m. $10.

Tuesdays

• Senior lunch, Golden Eagle Senior Center, noon. $3 suggested donation. Bus transportation available. Home delivered meals available for home-bound seniors. Call 970-328-8896 for more information. Please RSVP for lunches 24 hours in advance.

• Non-medical foot care (toenail trimming and foot soaks), Golden Eagle Senior Center, third Tuesday of month, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Call 970-328-8896 for more information.

• Parkinson’s Foundations exercise class, Golden Eagle Senior Center, 3 p.m. Class focuses on strength, balance and flexibility. Exercises are enhanced to include cognition, vocal therapy and fun. Not just for those with Parkinson’s disease — this class is beneficial for anyone who would like to improve balance, flexibility and strength.

• Vintage Vail, Avon Recreation Center, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Free. Join the Avon Afternoon Club for a weekly gathering of games, socializing and coffee. Call 970-748-4060 for more information.
