ECO Transit Passenger Appreciation Day is Wednesday
EAGLE COUNTY — ECO Transit is the recent recipient of several statewide recognitions and will be sharing its success with riders during Passenger Appreciation Day, set for Wednesday. Staff members will be at the Chambers Park & Ride in Eagle, Avon Station in Avon and the Vail Transportation Center in Vail from 6 to 9 a.m. to provide doughnuts, giveaways and a chance to win an annual bus pass.
This fall, ECO Transit was named “Medium Transit System of the Year” by the Colorado Association of Transit Agencies for its ridership increases and for taking a lead role in partnerships throughout the state. Ridership is up 15 percent for 2014 over 2015 to-date. In addition to the overall award, ECO Transit Director Kelley Collier was recognized as one of “4 under 40” for her leadership and innovation in promoting transit in the community.
“We know that our success depends on being responsive to our passengers’ needs,” said Collier. “We appreciate all of our loyal riders and are looking forward to a great winter,” she said.
Also, ECO bus driver Juan Reyes placed third overall in the statewide “Bus Roadeo,” a skills test and obstacle course which evaluates operator abilities. Reyes’ performance qualifies him to compete in the national Bus Roadeo for the second consecutive year.
ECO Transit’s winter schedule begins Nov. 30 and includes increased service levels during peak times on the U.S. Highway 6 corridor, as well as hourly Valley Express service. For the complete schedule, visit http://www.eaglecounty.us/transit. For assistance with trip planning, call 970-328-3520.
