Golf tourney fundraiser slated for June 8 in Breck
AVON — The Christie Lodge and Breckenridge Grand Vacations are teaming up to host the annual Christel House Open Golf Tournament in support of Christel House and The Summit Foundation. The event will be held June 8 at Breckenridge Golf Club.
Christel House uses a holistic model designed to transform the lives of impoverished children. They do this by focusing on the “whole child.” Christel House provides for children in several aspects such as education, physical health, overall well-being. Sticking with the child from adolescence through adulthood, it is their mission to make sure that the children are prepared for the world’s challenges and succeed through hard work and dedication.
This global event has 12 different tournament sites across several different time zones with an expected 1,500 golfers participating. One hundred percent of donations to Christel House go directly to the children. In 2012, the American Resort Development Association awarded their prestigious Ace Philanthropic Award to the Christel House for their dedicated support of children in need.
In addition, a percentage of the locally raised money will go to the Summit Foundation. The Summit Foundation strives to inspire donors, build partnerships and mobilize resources to support community organizations in Summit County (and the surrounding communities). They foster health and human service, education, art and culture, sports and recreation, and environmental leadership.
Last year, the tournament netted over $53,000 and organizers are hoping to exceed that mark this year. You can enter a team, donate prizes or contribute cash to be a part of the event. The tournament will be held at the Breckenridge Golf Club.
