VAIL — Major excavation and utility work will ramp up next week along North Frontage Road. Excel Energy’s specialty subcontractor, Terra Technologies, will return for fiber optic line relocation work along the North Frontage Road. Work will continue seven days per week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Terra Technologies specializes in telecommunications relocation — work they completed along the South Frontage Road in July. Due to limited availability, Terra Technologies will need to work into the evening hours and light plants will be utilized as necessary to complete the work between 7:30 and 10 p.m.

RECREATION PATH CHANGE

As part of the work along the North Frontage Road, the north recreation path will see a minor realignment, also beginning next week. Follow the signs for the realigned pedestrian path. For the first week, a worker will flag the path to ensure public safety with heavy construction machinery operations nearby.

The Colorado Department of Transportation and the town of Vail have installed a camera to help commuters plan their drives and follow progress of the underpass construction. Different camera angles can be viewed by selecting “Control” and then “Positions.” The camera is available on the project’s website.
