Industry group honors locals

VAIL — The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International has selected Vail Valley Partnership President and chief executive officer Chris Romer and Kristin Yantis, principal of Malen Yantis Pubic Relations, as two of The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International Top 25: Extraordinary Minds in Hospitality Sales, Marketing, Revenue Optimization for 2015.
The 13th annual list recognizes the best of the best in the hospitality, travel and tourism industries. Recipients will be honored during a private ceremony co-sponsored by the association and Questex Hospitality + Travel, preceding the Adrian Awards Gala Feb. 16 at the New York Marriott Marquis and will be recognized at the Adrian Awards Dinner Reception and Gala that follows.
The 2015 Top 25 recipients were judged by a panel of senior industry executives for their recent work based on creativity and innovation, cutting-edge sales or marketing campaigns, triumph in challenging situations and/or sales efforts that resulted in dramatic gains.
"The Top 25 is our annual hot list that celebrates the sales, marketing and revenue management leaders and innovators in our industry," said Robert A. Gilbert, president and CEO of Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International. "The creative strategies, passionate dedication and sharp intelligence of these professionals have not only grown the business within their organizations but have also truly raised the bar for the hospitality industry as a whole."
'Honored to work with valuable partners'
Romer leads the Vail Valley Partnership team to help positively impact the community via various community programming and tourism endeavors, and dedicates time to a variety of industry boards and committees including the Colorado Tourism Office, Tourism Industry Association of Colorado, Colorado Association of Destination Marketing Organizations, Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium, Northwest Colorado Council of Governments Economic Development District and Vail Economic Advisory Council.

Yantis is the principal of Malen Yantis Public Relations, a small public relations firm specializing in travel and tourism. The agency has represented hotels and resorts from Maui to Vermont and numerous locations in between. The agency has successfully rebranded properties, opened new hotels and led communications efforts for world-class destinations. The company currently represents Vail clients including the Vail Local Marketing Advisory Council, Taste of Vail and the Vail Veterans Program.
Prior to launching Malen Yantis Public Relations, Yantis was the public relations director for some of the top ski resorts in United States including Keystone, Breckenridge and Vail. She received numerous accolades as the in-house, opening public relations director for The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch. She also led public relations efforts for Destination Hotels as the company's assistant vice president of corporate communications before starting her own firm in 2007.
Romer and Yantis will be featured in a Questex travel publication article, receive a personalized plaque and henceforward will be recognized as a Top 25 Extraordinary Mind in hospitality sales, marketing and revenue optimization.
