AVON — The Prism Awards, which recognizes outstanding achievement in the building and remodeling industry, recently announced its annual award winners last month. Design Associates, architects, took home the Gold Prism Award for their design for a custom home built at C Lazy U Ranch in Granby. The home was built by Beck Building Co.

“It is an honor for an organization based in Boston to select a project located in Colorado. We share our pride with the architect, Design Associates and interior designer, Rebal Design,” Beck Building Company President Kevin O’Donnell said.

The custom home honored by the Prism Awards sits on C Lazy U Ranch, a ranch resort that was built in 1919. The homeowners wanted their Rocky Mountain retreat to be true to the place, unique, restful and to maximize the views from where it sits in the valley. They also wanted a rustic yet refined look, which incorporated reclaimed materials including pine beetle trusses and a snow fence. The home also features reclaimed antique plumbing and electrical fixtures.

The Prism Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of builders, developers, project owners, architects, land planners, marketing/advertising firms, interior designers, remodelers and other professionals in the home building industry. The awards are presented annually by the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston.

The home near Granby won a gold medal for the best detached home in the 2,500 to 5,000 square feet category. The home was also recently featured in “Rustic Country,” a nationally distributed magazine.
