EDWARDS — The Total Health Alliance invites community members to a forum on Wednesday at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards to provide greater understanding and knowledge about marijuana to all community members.
The Total Health Alliance has joined forces with several community partners, including Eagle River Youth Coalition and Vail Valley Medical Center, to bring professionals to speak on various aspects of marijuana. Presenters will help improve understanding of marijuana and its related effects; raise awareness on the laws and consequences from violating those laws; speak to impacts on physical health, mental health and the brain; and provide relevant information including data and trends to empower community members to make informed decisions. Information will be shared on local trends; medical inclinations; addictive behaviors and age of onset; youth development; ethics behind the laws; consumption mechanisms and amounts; and products such as edibles, hash and THC. Finally, education on resources available in the community will be available.
The Total Health Alliance and collaborating agencies worked to organize the event aimed at educating the public.
“We want to engage professionals to provide factual information to the community on marijuana impacts and trends,” said Michelle Stecher, executive director of Eagle River Youth Coalition and Total Health Alliance member. “We believe that if community members are educated, they can make more informed decisions in regards to their behaviors and their family’s health and well-being.”
