Public safety training returns to Vail

VAIL — The Vail Police Department, in conjunction with the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab, will be hosting a new session of the Community Awareness Program from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. This free community training is the same course as earlier sessions held last year in preparation for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

The Thursday training will take place in The Grandview on the third level of the Lionshead Welcome Center, where parking is free upon entry after 3 p.m. Employees, business owners and other members of the community are encouraged to attend. Call the police records office at 970-479-2208 to RSVP as space is limited.

The Community Awareness Program empowers citizens to recognize and report suspicious activity and enhance community safety. Developed in conjunction with the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab, a non-partisan, nonprofit organization based in Denver, the Community Awareness Program empowers citizens to recognize and report suspicious activity and enhance community safety. It was created to complement the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s If You See Something, Say Something campaign.
