Real estate company set to hold food drive

EDWARDS — Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Colorado Properties is hosting its eighth annual food drive this season. Volunteers from the company will be collecting canned goods on Saturday at Village Market in Edwards from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Michael Slevin, President of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Colorado Properties, said the annual event gives brokers and staff a chance to connect with the local community in a way that is different from day-to-day work.

Important for Community’s Health

“The food drive and the work our local Salvation Army does is critical for our community,” Slevin said. “We are perceived as a community of means, but the reality is that there are many we live and work with who are struggling at times, and to put forth this effort to support others is important for the overall health of our community.”

The company held its first food drive of the season in Eagle Nov. 21, and collected several hundred pounds of food to donate. The firm will host another food drive Dec. 19 at the Avon City Market.

‘Making the season a bit Brighter’

Slevin said that during a past company food drive, a family of six on vacation walked into the store, and came out with three carts full of food — one for the family and two to donate. But every donation is appreciated, he added.

“We don’t get to see all the people who are helped by our efforts,” Slevin said, “but we know that through the good work of our local Salvation Army, we are making the season a bit brighter for those in need.”
