GYPSUM — The thing about living in the information age is lots of info translates into lots of paper.

A lot of that paper contains sensitive information that can cause big problems if it makes it into the wrong hands.

Alliance Moving Systems/Alliance Record Systems is ready to help locals deal with this dilemma during a community shred-a-thon.On Saturday, the company will waive its minimum charge and offer on-site shredding services for 35 cents per pound. A representative from H&R Block will be on site to advise residents about what documents they should keep and what can be shredded. In addition to providing service aimed at helping residents avoid the problem, the shred-a-thon will also offer identity theft education from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

To expand the recycling aspect of the event, Trinity Recycling will offer a free dumpster to collect electronic recycling and resident can donate household furnishings that are in good condition for donation to local causes.

Refreshments will be served and tours of the Alliance Moving Systems warehouse are planned.
