Sonnenalp Club hires health, fitness director

Daily staff report

EDWARDS — Johannes Faessler, owner of the Sonnenalp Club, recently announced that Shaun Evans has joined the club’s executive team as the director of health and fitness. Evans, who has more than 30 years of experience in resort and fitness management, is overseeing the construction of the new 10,000-square-foot health and fitness facility and will be managing the new facility upon its completion in the summer of 2016.

“I’m very excited to be working with the Sonnenalp Club and am thrilled to be a part of this project,” Evans said. “We’re already in the thick of things in regards to building the structure. So far, we’re on schedule to complete and open June 1.”

Evans, who moved to Edwards from La Quinta, California, where he was the director of fitness spa and wellness at La Quinta Resort and Club-Waldorf Astoria, is no stranger to the Vail Valley. Before living in La Quinta, he was the director and general manager of Aria Spa and Club at the Vail Cascade Resort in Vail.

“When we started making plans for the new health and fitness facility we wanted to make sure that we had a great fit for our director,” Faessler said. “Shaun not only has experience in health and fitness management but he also understands the vision that we have for the Sonnenalp Club. We look forward to showcasing our new facility and offerings to our members this summer.”

The health and fitness facility will be a technologically advanced fitness club with state-of-the-art equipment and spectacular views.

“I’m really looking forward to giving our members what they want, whether it’s social opportunities or getting desired results with their health and fitness,” Evans said.

The Sonnenalp Club is offering a select number of sports memberships until Feb. 14. Potential members who are currently on the wait list for memberships will get first priority for joining, but there will be other opportunities for those who are interested.
