EDWARDS — The Sonnenalp Club in Edwards has reached a partnership agreement with ClubCorp, the largest owner-operator of private golf and country clubs, business, sports and alumni clubs in the world. This agreement will offer current and future Sonnenalp Club members access to ClubCorp’s facilities.

The plan allows full members of the Sonnenalp Club to golf at hundreds of golf and country clubs. It also grants full and sports members access to business clubs, sports clubs and alumni clubs in the U.S. as well as in Mexico and China.

Putting Members First

“We have tremendous assets at the Sonnenalp Club and our new plan allows us to both better utilize those assets and also meet the service standards today’s members look for in club membership. We see this association with ClubCorp of America … as a way to address these elements and create the programs that are important to our members and community.”

“We realize that the club business has changed dramatically,” said Sonnenalp Club owner Johannes Faessler. “Club members and guests want more family time, plus more year-round, lifestyle-oriented programming than ever before.

“We have tremendous assets at the Sonnenalp Club and our new plan allows us to both better utilize those assets and also meet the service standards today’s members look for in club membership. We see this association with ClubCorp of America, as well as our vision for the Sonnenalp Club’s future, as a way to address these elements and create the programs that are important to our members and community. So far, it has been very well received,” Faessler said.

The ownership and management of Sonnenalp Club remains with the Faessler family, the five-generation resort owner and hotelier with luxury resorts in Vail and Ofterschwang, Germany.

“Our relationship with the Faessler family is long and dear and it is an absolute thrill to work with such an incredible hotelier and club operator,” said Eric Afield, chief executive officer of ClubCorp and a founding partner of KSL Recreation Company, which started in Vail in 1998. “We look forward to welcoming Sonnenalp Club members to our properties and clubs.”
