Street sealing begins soon

Daily staff report

VAIL — Crews hired by the town of Vail will begin an annual street maintenance project beginning Monday. The slurry seal work will be taking place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

A slurry seal creates a new wearing surface and seals the asphalt to prevent water intrusion into the pavement. Roads will be treated one lane at a time to allow for single-lane traffic to be maintained at all times; however, motorists should expect delays. Traffic will be allowed to return to the new surface after it dries, typically after two to three hours.

The following roads are scheduled to receive the slurry treatment this year:

• West Gore Creek Drive.

• Alta Court.

• Shasta Place.

• Alpine Drive.

• Sierra Trail.

• Matterhorn Circle.

• Geneva Drive.

• Westhaven Drive.
