Vail considers event funding for 2015 affairs
VAIL — The town of Vail Commission on Special Events is currently accepting funding requests from special event producers for 2015 events occurring in Vail. The guidelines and accompanying information are available online at http://www.vailgov.com or at the Vail Municipal Building, located at 75 S. Frontage Road.
The commission, utilizing research results provided by the Vail Local Marketing District, has developed special event rating criteria that will be used to evaluate all proposals based on how they align with the strategies to provide a diverse calendar of events that are well matched to the Vail brand. Primary consideration will be given to events that drive incremental destination visitation.
EVENTS SUPPORTED IN VAIL
In 2014, the CSE provided over $890,000 in sponsorship funding for 35 events in Vail, including but not limited to the GoPro Mountain Games, Vail Summer Bluegrass Series, Vail Farmers’ Market & Art Show, Gourmet on Gore, SnowDaze, Vail America Days, Vail Arts Festival, Vail Film Festival, Taste of Vail, Oktoberfest, Vail Lacrosse Shootout, Kids Adventure Games, Vail America Days, Pink Vail and Spring Back to Vail.
The funds are allocated to the CSE by the Vail Town Council and come from the General Fund and the funds generated annually by the Vail business tax license fees.
APPLICATIONS DUE OCT. 20
Event funding applications are due no later than 4 p.m. Oct. 20. Qualifying applications will be reviewed by CSE at its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 5. Final funding allocations will be determined at a special meeting on Nov. 12.
