VAIL — The Vail Golf Club will close Sunday for the season to allow golf maintenance crews to prepare the course for winter and ready the greens, fairways and tee boxes for next season. The Vail Coal Bucket Classic will return in November, weather permitting.

Once the Vail Golf Club closes the Vail Nordic Center will ramp up its operations for the 2014-15 Nordic season. The Nordic Center retail shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday beginning Nov. 7 and will be selling both season passes and Nordic clothing, accessories and equipment. Once there is enough snow to open for the season, typically 8 inches, the Nordic Center will then operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily throughout the season. Mia Stockdale, who co-owns and operates the Nordic Center with Shane Sluder, says they’re excited for the snow to fall and get Nordic activities up and running. Stockdale says when the retail shop opens, customers will enjoy new equipment at great prices, a new fleet of children’s seasonal rentals, as well as discounted season pass prices through Saturday, Nov. 30. Pass prices are $80 for adults and $40 for students.

“We’re looking forward to offering other great Nordic gear, instruction and fun for the winter season,” Stockdale SAID.

The annual Vail Nordic Center Ski Swap will take place from 9 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 as a fundraiser for the Vail Nordic Club.
