VAIL — The 14 shops affiliated with Vail and Beaver Creek Sports combined to raise a total of $51,196 for local nonprofit Vail Valley Charitable Fund as a part of Vail Resorts Retail’s 17th annual EpicPromise Holiday Giving Campaign. The holiday campaign that ran from Thanksgiving through early January encouraged holiday shoppers to donate to the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, an organization that provides assistance to individuals who live and work in Eagle County and are experiencing financial hardship due to a medical crisis or long-term illness.

‘Thankful for Everyone who Gave’

“We were very grateful to Vail Resorts for selecting the Vail Valley Charitable Fund as this year’s EpicPromise Holiday Giving Campaign recipient,” said Rohn Robbins, chairman and founder of the Vail Valley Charitable Fund. “We were particularly heartened by the enthusiasm of the young people working on the campaign and their passion to do good. Lastly, we are thankful to everyone who gave from the heart and have helped the Vail Valley Charitable Fund ease the suffering and worry that too often accompanies illness.”

The EpicPromise Holiday Giving Campaign is a nationwide effort among 190 Vail Resorts Retail stores from San Francisco to Minnesota. Hundreds of retail employees raised a total of $271,501 for 19 organizations selected by Vail Resorts Retail employees. Vail Resorts EpicPromise, the company’s social responsibility program, matched 50 cents on every dollar donated up to $100, adding $17,065 to the amount raised by employees and shoppers.

“I have had the pleasure of leading our team in the EpicPromise Holiday Giving Campaign for many years now and it is a responsibility I take with great honor,” said Kenny Friedman, senior specialist of promotions with Vail Resorts Retail. “The VVCF is a terrific local charity that helps Eagle County locals during a medical crisis with a direct grant. The charity’s goals and our company’s goals were perfectly mated and the end result is a donation that will help locals in need in our home community.”
