Vail Resorts stores give funds to Small Champions
VAIL — The 47 Vail Resorts Retail stores located in Eagle County combined to raise funds for local nonprofit Small Champions as a part of Vail Resorts Retail’s EpicPromise holiday giving campaign.
Small Champions, an Eagle County nonprofit organization for children with disabilities, was honored last week by receiving a check for $65,385 from this year’s 18th annual campaign. The campaign encouraged holiday shoppers to donate to Small Champions, which provides sports opportunities for these local youth.
Small Champions was selected by the store managers of the participating Vail Resorts stores in Vail and Beaver Creek.
“We would particularly like to thank Kenny Friedman, senior promotions specialist with Vail Resorts Retail and the key organizer for this program,” Small Champions said in a press release. “Kenny has been our community champion and has had decades of success for local nonprofits with this program. His insight, inspiration and determination to help stores raise funds and help educate the community and visitors alike about the great nonprofits in our area is an inspiration to all. Kenny’s creative leadership and bold perseverance has impacted countless local causes that will continue to benefit into the future.”
The 18th annual campaign was a nationwide effort among 190 Vail Resorts Retail stores from San Francisco to Minnesota. Hundreds of retail employees raised a total of $275,277 for 17 organizations selected by Vail Resorts Retail employees. Vail Resorts EpicPromise, the company’s social responsibility program, matched 50 cents on every dollar donated up to $100, adding a total of $90,724 to the amount raised by employees and shoppers.
