WhatToDo releases online event calendar listing tool
June 28, 2014
AVON — A free online tool from local events listing company WhatToDo will make it easier for Vail-area event producers to promote their events and streamline their information.
The free system allows event producers to list unlimited events on the company's network of websites using a Web portal, and then lets them track the effectiveness of their marketing efforts and edit, sort and store content for future event marketing. WhatToDo has been a longtime player in marketing information to vacation visitors with its WhatToDo magazines and popular Website, http://www.WhatToDo.info. The site receives about 50,000 visitors per month, and it is now Vail's top ranking destination website, according to Alexa.com.
"We have been listening to our customers," said WhatToDo.info CEO Christian Amoroso. "An event producer's dream is having one place to upload their events and have them syndicated out to as many websites as possible. WhatToDo just made that dream a reality."
Event producers have the ability to include images, logos and direct links to purchase tickets. Once an event producer publishes an event, that information is instantly available on WhatToDo.info as well as countless other hotel, property management and other resort business websites that use WhatToDo data.
"The WhatToDo free calendar tool is great for organizations trying to reach a larger audience," said Tracy Flower, executive director of Vail Symposium, which recently started using the tool. "For a nonprofit organization such as the Symposium, we are able to easily serve up info on the great programs we offer to Vail locals and visitors. But more than anything, it will be those eager activity seekers that will benefit from having all the wonderful things the Vail Valley has to offer in an organized, neat calendar format."
Amoroso adds that the online calendar is equally valuable to residents and tourists looking to find out what's going on around town.

WhatToDo.info has expanded to numerous resort areas recently, including Summit County and other Colorado locations such as Aspen/Glenwood, Leadville, Durango and Steamboat Springs, as well as locations in California and Utah. The free calendar tool is available in all these areas.
"The calendar program is just a small part of the proprietary Web-based system we're getting ready to roll out for clients that will dramatically simplify and streamline the process of marketing in resorts," Amoroso said. "We've got some incredible marketing tools that we've spent a long time developing that we're excited to introduce. So, stay tuned."
